Crowns are used to repair and safeguard a natural tooth that has been compromised, damaged, or has lost a substantial amount of its structure. The crown covers the entire tooth, reducing the likelihood of breakage and enhancing its appearance.
A bridge, on the other hand, is similar to a crown, but is composed of two or more crowns connected together. It serves to replace missing teeth by utilizing the surrounding teeth as support for the replacement tooth.
Understanding the dental crown procedure process
Step One:
Before we start the treatment, the dentist will clean and check your teeth. If any part of your tooth is damaged, the dentist will remove it to stop it from getting worse. Then, the dentist will make a new tooth to replace the damaged one. This new tooth is called a crown. To make the crown, the dentist will make a mold of your teeth using special material or a special machine. This mold will be used to make the final crown. Until the final crown is ready, you will have a temporary crown in your mouth.
Step Two:
The temporary crown will be taken off by the dentist and replaced with the permanent one, either by using dental cement or a discreet screw. Afterward, it will be smoothed out, and any necessary modifications will be made to ensure a comfortable fit in your mouth.
